Chelsea ends Man City’s quadruple bid, reaches FA Cup final

0 Readers

London - Chelsea has ended Manchester City's quadruple hope.

After Hakim Ziyech's 1-0 win over City on Saturday, Chelsea will return to Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup final next month. Pep Guardiola will lead City to the League Cup final next Sunday, but there are questions on whether De Bruyne will be fit to face Tottenham. With City facing a crucial time of the season, the potent Belgian playmaker hobbled off with an apparent ankle injury. With an 11-point lead in the Premier League, City is a near-certainty to win the championship. Still, Guardiola will also play in his first Champions League semifinal with City against Paris Saint-Germain in what remains the club's priority title. Guardiola has been in charge of City for almost five years, while Thomas Tuchel has only been in charge of Chelsea for three months. Following Frank Lampard's dismissal, the German now can win a trophy in the FA Cup final versus Leicester or Southampton next month. Chelsea, like City, is still in the Champions League hunt, with Real Madrid waiting in the final four. Tuchel would be encouraged by his team's success against City. Although Timo Werner lacks goals, he makes up for it with assists, with his 12th of the season setting up Ziyech for the close-range finish in the 55th minute. There were no Chelsea fans present to see the goal. However, because of the easing of coronavirus limits, they should be allowed back into Wembley for the May 15 final. The best way to re-enter stadiums safely will be tested at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, where up to 4,000 locals from the north London area will be invited to watch Leicester play Southampton if they can show a negative coronavirus test result.
